My husband and I, along with my sister and her better half, have been excited to visit Pennhurst Asylum for ages. This year was finally THE YEAR. Tickets in hand, we ventured up to Spring City for what was sure to be a super fun evening. Seeing as how we had a 2 hour drive to get there, it made sense to go up early and grab a bite. Per usual, I of course yelped the list of nearby restaurants, bars and yummeries. We decided on the Spring City Hotel, a family owned bar and grill on main street. We found it relatively easily enough, and scored free parking in their lot no problem. At first, I couldn't help but wonder if it was the Pennhurst pre-show. Everything in the building just feels... aged. We sat on the bar side before even realizing there was a dining room. The bathrooms had that high-school-in-the-80's smell to them, the salad bar and dining room had the Bob's Big Boy circa 1992 feel. That said, despite it's antiquated appearance, it's clearly owned and operated by a family with a great deal of pride and respect for their business. The service was friendly, the beer was cold, and I was served with a smile despite rocking a Ravens jersey in Eagles country. I had their baked fish special, which was very good. My husband ordered a beef wrap, recieved a turkey wrap and enjoyed it just the same. My sister and her girlfriend each ordered burgers, and neither had complaints.. with the exception of the fries. None of us liked the fries. I don't know what was wrong with them, but they looked withered and still frozen. They weren't seasoned, and weren't at all good. They all left piles of fries on their plates, and I left full and glad I chose the green beans. All in all, a positive experience. Prices were acceptable, and I would definitely patron again the next time we plan a trip to Pennhurst..

Quaint little eatery in Spring City. Was sort of expecting a more upscale restaurant but it was more of an intimate casual dining experience. Not fancy but not a diner either. Entrees come with a salad bar (mediocre, but welcome) and a plate of toasted bread (yummy). The meals were good and the staff friendly. Their chocolate mousse pie is awesome by the way. Not a high end joint but not a dive either. Go for a nice quiet meal in a neat old building. We will be going back to sample more of their menu.

Old and musty... The food, the staff, the building. Only 2 beers on tap. Light or dark. Hot wings weren't bad but they came with horrible yellow tartar sauce that was mostly mayo. The salad bar was sad. I won't be back.

I can't say enough about the SCH. The food is always delicious and the drinks are top notch. The bar offers a nice selection of beers ranging from your basic domestics to local favorites and other micros, all at great prices. Some weekends at the Hotel they have live bands play. They offer two menus, one for regular dining and one for bar fare with specials rotating each night. My favorites are the wings(BBQ, hot, garlic) and the BBQ ribs and chicken.

had dinner here a few weeks back, the place is old but the food was not bad, I was surprised. The servers were fast the the food was hot when it arrived at my table. The Menu was fairly large with your normal Pub fare. I'll go back again

Yuck City! I've eaten here a few times and the food is always bad. They have a various selection of items on their men from Americana to Seafood pasta combos. I ordered a Zep Cheese steak for 7.95, which included fries and a ketchup cup of coleslaw. The sandwich was alright, but had way too much raw onion on it and not much of anything else. Also, it was too small, for 7.95 I could go to a takeout joint and get a better and bigger sandwich. The fries were old and gross, and it was obvious just by looking at them. The décor inside is nice. There's a portrait of some old dead guy probably Jebidiah Handsome or something. There's two halves to the place , a restaurant and a bar side. I saw a band setting up as I was leaving. Who knows, maybe it's a decent place to drink at? However, the food, I'd rather eat at the Bates Motel.

(Rating the hotel, not the eatery.) Absolutely disgusting. Smells dank and sour and looks like it hasn't been updated in about 40 years.

The Spring City Hotel is more than just a place a to have a drink or grab a delish bite to eat. The wait staff is young and lively which makes dinner an even more enjoyable experience. If you rather a liquid dinner jump on over to the bar. There is a nice selection of beers from around the word and enough liquor choices to make any drink your heart desires. Live music on Fridays is pretty sweet as well!
